Intelligent Thermostats
At A&C the minimum thermostat we will install is a digital programmable thermostat. However, we do recommend several of the intelligent thermostats to improve your energy efficiency. After all, you have decided to go as energy efficient as possible on the geothermal HVAC so go that extra step and install a thermostat that will maximum the energy efficiency available.
One of the intelligent thermostats we recommend is the “Ecobee“.
Whether you’re using the simple-to-use touchscreen thermostat or accessing the system via a smart phone or computer, Ecobee makes it easy to control the comfort of your home. The Ecobee Smart Thermostat actually pays attention to how homeowners consume energy and figures out how you can save the most energy and money over time. The algorithms take into account elements such as weather, size of home, number of occupants and type of HVAC system to maximize your energy efficiency. Ecobee is the smartest way to save money and reduce your environmental impact. The thermostat will even alert you when an issue arises by sending an email or text to the homeowner. Additionally, the homeowner can opt to have the installer receive an email message so an appointment can be arranged often before the homeowner is even aware an issue has arisen. A recent study estimated that the average Ecobee homeowner saved 24% on their heating and 21% on their cooling energy costs versus the benchmark of leaving their thermostat on hold at 72 degrees Fahrenheit.
Another intelligent thermostat we recommend is the Honeywell “Lyric“
The Lyric thermostat is ideal for customers who are on the go and want optimal comfort and savings and they don’t have to think about programming a thermostat. Instead of operating on a fixed programmed schedule, Lyric uses the home owner’s smartphone(s) location and can automatically adjust the temperature as they come and go – delivering comfort when they’re home and savings when they’re away. This thermostat is also optimal for people who do not consistently have the same weekly schedule as the thermostat does not “learn” your patterns it simply locates your smart phone to know if you are home or away.
Another intelligent thermostat brand we recommend is the “Nest“.
The Nest thermostat can also be accessed via smart phone or your computer and will monitor your HVAC system and send out alerts as well. The Nest programs itself in about a week. It creates a personalized schedule based on the temperature changes you’ve made and continually adapts to your changing life. After you’ve left the house, Nest will sense you’ve gone and automatically adjusts the temperature to avoid heating or cooling an empty home.
Of course, if you elect to forgo the highly intelligent thermostats, the standard model we install is still considered very intelligent compared to a majority of other models.
The “Honeywell 6000” Thermostat works wonderfully with Geothermal HVAC systems. It is 5-1-1 or 5-2 day programmable. It has a large, clear backlit digital display and maintains consistent comfort.
